The Tothman King is no pushover although I wish they made the fight feel more impactful.
On the other hand, Erille Kingdom is also a fascinating place to expand the world building of this show imo. That song played briefly was also smooth to the ears. It's fun seeing Helck meeting new people everyday on his adventure.
Following last episode, in the city of Eriu, Helck and Vermilio found themselves battling the Toasman tribe. The Toasman king, obsessed with power, went berserk due to a mysterious force. After their confrontation with the Toasman king, Helck and Vermilio set off for the next town in search of a map to the empire. In a trading town surrounded by a desert, they decided to participate in a high-stakes cooking competition with a grand prize to purchase the expensive map they needed. However, they soon discovered that the competition had attracted formidable chefs confident in their culinary skills.
That whole part where the residents of the country thanked Helck and Vermilio was sweet. As well as that whole cooking part, that not only made me hungry but made me laugh so much. Helck just knows how to make a good dish doesn't he? Well looks like they got the map and they need to head northwest to make it back home!
But this Warrior of Darkness resides there. Will Helck be strong enough to defeat him?
Talk about poor animation. Well, if we can call it as such, since nothing was animated during the fight with king. They even went the lazy route and just animated outline to skip on details. So so many static images.
piwi is so dam cute and when he was singing with that green hair girl 😂❤. By the next episode preview it looks like Nice fight gonna happen between Helck and that dark Knight fella
Well, the inhabitants of this continent are really interesting haha, and Piwi is as hilarious as ever!
The more places our heroes visit, the more questions we have: an intriguing world for sure.
A pretty solid episode overall, funny and with new/old mysteries.
I love and somewhat don’t love it lol. The last 2 episodes felt like a drag from the start of the show. Nothing interesting has happened since they last showed the empire.
But it is only the beginning so I look forward to it.
Yeah I think that the map merchant ripped off Helck and Anne but I guess as long as the map is accurate is what matters most. The cooking contest reminded me of a cooking show I used to watch called "Iron Chef." Anne's reaction to tasting Helck's cooking was great with hearts in her pupils.
It looks like Helck and Anne (don't call her Annie) will be fighting another mysterious figure in the next episode as they make their way back home.
Another okay episode. I wouldn't mind the meandering adventure so much if we didn't know about the very pressing main plot that was supposed to be happening
To the people who read the source material and are now watching the show, how is the adaptation doing?
That fight could have had better animation, it was very stiff. There hasn´t been a lot going on in the last two episodes, but the randomness can be pretty funny. Starting this episode with a fight, I had no idea it would end in a cooking match.
Piwi singing along with that singer made me laugh.
Damn bruh, I'm really liking this. Just not the slow going pace.
I can't believe the manga is fully finished and they are making anime of this very late. As this has the probability of ruining the anime for some people. I mean this has so much suspense. Can they adapt the whole thing in 24 episodes?
Helck literally punched dude to smithereens and didn’t even break a sweat. Keep in mind Vermirio herself was intimidated by that barbarian king’s strength and Helck easily dispatched of him. That’s insane
Other than that tho the episode felt kinda filler-y. The cooking contest was ok, but we already knew Helck was an amazing cook since the taste contest back in like episode 2. Really want to get back to the plot. The whole situation with the human king and awakened knights is so interesting.
I’m also wondering. If they’re back on the mainland continent now, shouldn’t the other demons be able to do that spell that can find lost people? I know they need like a sample of Vermirio’s hair, but I can’t remember if it was burnt up in the first spell or not.
Is this the new thing? People are just going to forget and/or ignore the fact there's invasion going on back home and they need to get back as soon as possible. Let's not buy map from elsewhere but this one particular place or force the guy to give it to them or sell. One robbery surely trumps death of a continent. Instead the correct solution is join cooking competition. Seriously? These plot holes are just too big to ignore.
This episode might have been fine on its own, but within the context it's just divorced from the rest of the series. Why did the portal go to that island anyway? Naah, just don't think about it, it's so that they can start adventuring from the farthest point. But there are pressing issues in the heart of the kingdom, naaah don't worry about it. It's on pause until they arrive home. Why didn't the hole teleport them to the moon? Naaah don't think about it. It had to be this Island because that's how they start their adventure and had to kill 3 episodes worth of time. Why a cooking competition for earning money and not honest labor or killing monsters or digging for more gems or just ignoring the whole greedy seller and moving on? Naah just don't think about it, it's because.
Am I the only one who finds writing like this annoying? I can't be. Surely. Thing after thing happens just because... no reason or logic. Just to further the "story", which at this point is more like something toddler would come up after just learning how to talk.
it's strange to have everything moving so quickly after spending most of the season on an island, but it looks like they're gaining allies along the way. i have a feeling there's going to be an alliance later on.
HAHAHA! This episode went full shokugeki just for a piece of Map! but done right! lolz at the judge he was just like insulted the other three competitors!
5/5.
Oh look how the barbarian king enjoyed his last moment before becoming a dust. At least now the kingdom of ruin broken their curse and somehow their race actually not so bad, i mean look at their princess, so pretty!
The second part is kinda meh honestly. Waste almost half of the duration for another cooking comedy, not to mention its only for a piece of a junk map. Well at least Piwi still funny shit as how he turned white after getting lost. Piwi, don't worry!
Hide and seek is the best offline games on this fatamorgana-called-world-thing. Please comment nicely. I am newbie here.
Helck with his strength and then cooking skill, he truly seems unstoppable, the people at that competition didn't really stand a chance.
Now they've got the map and know where to go, the only problem seems to be this "warrior of darkness" that the musician was talking about.
The Tothman King revived, and the feeling that both Helck and Vermilio are getting is one of evil, even at the expense of his own life. With the barbarians thanking the both of them, the curse is finally broken, and the Erille Kingdom is indebtedly grateful to them. But they cannot stop, and another town they go to find peddlers, and a woman who's just singing her tune of the ruined kingdoms.
Earning money to get a map is not easy, especially for outsiders. And a cooking competition which nets the other half of what they need to pay for, three others with heavy reputations vy also for the grand prize. Yeah, it's filler-y, but it's given for the journey ahead that's a stepping stone to get the prized map.
What's with this "Warrior of Darkness" that's stopping them from progressing further back?
I thought it was a fun episode, I don't know why people are complaining, oh well..
@chidaru Precisely. This journey is just great fun. It doesn't reach the apex of shounen, by any means, but that isn't what I want from Helck anyway. Helck and Anne help out the piggies, meet a cute princess, and then move on to have a cooking competition to earn enough local currency to buy a map. We get treated to a Piwi duet, and Anne gets her mind blown with Helck's cooking yet again. All of the understated comedy glues it all together and you have a fun time enjoying their continuing antics.
I am really glad that they are not gonna skip the Warrior of Darkness. That was my biggest concern when the anime only arc started (not that it was bad)
Dang RL got in the way so now I'm having to catch up.
The huge ogre monster fight started like "Whoa" and ended like "pffff deflating balloon." How disappointing, and quite an anticlimax
The barbarian invaders are so happy their "King" is gone, they practically thank Helck and celebrate
The oppressed folks turn back into Pigs. The princess is hot. She gives Helck and Anne a reward, and they journey on.
They come to a new country
They find a map, but it is 50,000 Lira!
After selling the Jewels from the Princess, they only have 25,000 so they enter a cooking contest with a 30,000 prize
Piwi goes off to find what the citizens like to eat.
And here I am, ECSTATIC to see a cooking contest in this anime! YAY! TBH the cooking contest tropes are in full force! Competitors! Specialties! Trash talking! Uber bull ... knife skills! Ingredients "falling" into the pot! Steam rising! And then ... the Anne reaction to Helck's food followed by audience drooling. I LOVE IT!
Of course they win, one loser has the Ashita no Jo meme!
Helck and Anne get the map, then head off after picking up Piwi.
So, because of the cooking contest, this is now my favorite episode yet! I'm going to bump up the score +1 because of it, I love gourmet anime.
